Description
Upon entering 834 Mibu, guests are greeted by a spacious entryway at the base of the stairs. A step up on the left side leads into the tatami living room, where a rotating selection of artwork from various photographers and artists is displayed along the far wall. This area, blending tradition and creativity, is furnished with a low table and floor chairs, offering a calming space to sit, read, or enjoy tea while taking in the view of the garden just beyond.
Continuing forward past the stairs, tucked partly beneath them, is the fully equipped kitchen, containing everything needed for preparing meals at home, including basic cookware, utensils, and appliances. At the back of the house lies the modern restroom, featuring wood-paneled walls and a spacious shower with an oversized rainfall-style showerhead, offering guests a clean, luxurious way to unwind.
Climbing the stairs leads to the upper floor, where the bedroom awaits. A comfortable queen-size bed sits beneath a vaulted ceiling, flanked by large windows on either side that fill the space with natural light. For those who prefer a slower morning, blackout roll screens allow for restful, undisturbed sleep. Above the stairs, a lofted alcove displays a curated collection of books, easily accessible and thoughtfully selected for guests to enjoy, adding a quiet sense of discovery and warmth to the space.
Completing the home is a serene Japanese-style garden visible from the living room. Centered around a momiji (Japanese maple) tree, the garden offers year-round beauty, bursting into brilliant crimson during autumn’s kōyō season, when the leaves change color across Japan. Its presence is subtle but profound, adding a touch of nature and seasonal rhythm to the experience of staying at 834 Mibu.
