Amenities

Overview

Kiri offers comfortable monthly accommodations for up to three guests in a modern two-story home featuring warm wood finishes and thoughtful design elements throughout. The property’s standout feature is an expansive workspace on the open second floor, making it particularly well-suited for remote workers seeking a dedicated professional environment during extended stays in Kyoto. Located in the residential Yamashina area of eastern Kyoto, Kiri provides authentic neighborhood living with convenient access to both local amenities and major transportation connections.

With a fully equipped kitchen, comfortable living spaces, and high-speed internet, the home serves as a practical base for those establishing temporary residence in Kyoto, whether for work assignments, extended exploration, or immersive cultural experiences beyond typical tourist timelines.

Location

Kiri occupies a quiet residential street in Yamashina, an area beloved by locals for its seasonal beauty and authentic neighborhood atmosphere. Just three minutes on foot, Keihan Yamashina Station provides efficient connections throughout the region, while JR Yamashina Station sits seven minutes away, opening access to Kyoto Station and destinations throughout the Kansai area. This dual-station proximity creates transportation flexibility that many Kyoto neighborhoods cannot match.

Daily necessities remain remarkably accessible, with a 7-Eleven convenience store just three minutes away for quick shopping runs. Racto Yamashina, a comprehensive shopping complex located equally close, offers diverse retail options, grocery shopping, dining establishments, and services that transform monthly living logistics from challenge to convenience. This combination of immediate amenities supports comfortable extended stays without constant trips to distant commercial districts.

A thirteen-minute walk leads to the Yamashina Canal, a historic waterway constructed during the Meiji era to connect Lake Biwa with Kyoto. The canal’s four-kilometer walking path becomes particularly spectacular from late March to early April when approximately 660 cherry trees bloom alongside bright yellow rapeseed flowers, creating one of Kyoto’s most photogenic spring landscapes. The sight of cherry blossoms reflected on the emerald green water surface proves breathtaking, while autumn transforms the canal into a fantastical landscape where maples create what feels like a tunnel of autumn leaves. This peaceful walking route provides seasonal beauty and exercise opportunities that enhance the quality of daily life during monthly stays.

Seventeen minutes of walking brings residents to Bishamon-do Temple, where traditional temple grounds showcase seasonal displays away from the tourist crowds that characterize more famous Kyoto sites. The combination of accessible daily amenities, beautiful seasonal walks, and residential tranquility creates an environment where monthly residents can establish genuine routines rather than extending a vacation.

Description

Enter through the genkan into a home where warm wood finishes immediately establish a welcoming atmosphere. The entryway opens into a thoughtfully arranged first floor where living and kitchen areas flow together while maintaining subtle separation. A partial wall creates visual distinction without isolating spaces, allowing natural light and conversation to move freely throughout the main floor.

The comfortable sofa anchors the living area, providing relaxation space after work hours or weekend exploration. A compact sofa bed offers additional sleeping capacity for a third guest when needed, though the home functions most comfortably for two residents. Recessed tape lighting along the top of the wood-paneled wall backing the sofa creates ambient illumination that transforms the atmosphere for evening relaxation, demonstrating how thoughtful lighting design enhances daily living beyond mere functionality.

The first floor’s practical facilities begin with a conveniently positioned restroom, followed by a washroom for grooming and daily preparation. The shower area remains accessible from the washroom, creating an efficient sequence that supports morning routines.

The dining area features a table positioned for both meals and casual work, while the adjacent full kitchen provides all essential appliances including a refrigerator, combination oven and microwave, stovetop, rice cooker, and electric kettle. This complete setup supports everything from quick breakfast preparations to elaborate dinner cooking, accommodating the varied culinary routines that emerge during monthly living. The washing machine sits conveniently beneath the staircase next to the refrigerator, maximizing space efficiency while maintaining easy access for regular laundry needs during extended stays.

Ascending the stairs reveals an open second floor that serves multiple functions for monthly living. Immediately upon reaching the top, a large built-in chest of drawers provides substantial storage, while a hanging rack directly ahead offers additional clothing organization. This generous storage capacity proves essential for monthly residents living out of suitcases, allowing personal belongings to be properly organized rather than perpetually packed.

The workspace occupies a dedicated area with a notably large desk suitable for monitor setups, multiple devices, and the spread of papers that accompanies productive work sessions. Additional shelving provides storage for work materials, books, and personal items that accumulate during extended stays. High-speed internet connectivity ensures professional work can proceed without the frustrations of unreliable connections that plague many temporary accommodations.
The bedroom area, while part of the open second-floor plan, creates a distinct sleeping zone with a comfortable queen-size bed. The wood flooring throughout the second level adds warmth underfoot while complementing the home’s overall aesthetic.

Access to a balcony provides outdoor space where laundry can be dried using the rack stored near the washing machine, eliminating dependence on coin laundries or professional services. This practical amenity matters significantly during monthly stays when regular laundry becomes routine rather than occasional necessity.
