Spanning 112 square meters and accommodating up to 8 guests, the house is ideal for families or groups traveling together who want both comfort and proximity to Kyoto’s most iconic sights. The interiors blend clean modern lines with warm natural wood accents, creating a stylish yet inviting atmosphere throughout the home.

Location

Situated in Kyoto’s storied Higashiyama Ward, Koju enjoys a prime location surrounded by some of the city’s most beloved historical landmarks. Just two minutes away on foot is Ninenzaka, a beautifully preserved pedestrian street lined with traditional shops and tea houses. A few minutes beyond that is the iconic Hōkan-ji Pagoda, a five-story landmark that defines Kyoto’s skyline. Continuing uphill, you’ll reach the world-famous Kiyomizu-dera Temple in around 15 minutes. It’s one of Kyoto’s most visited sites, known for its wooden stage that overlooks the city and the changing colors of the forested hillside below.

Gion, Kyoto’s famed geisha district, is just four minutes away on foot. This atmospheric neighborhood is known for its traditional wooden machiya houses, tea houses, and the occasional glimpse of a maiko or geiko walking to an evening appointment. In addition to its cultural charm, Gion also offers an array of upscale restaurants and boutique shops, making it a wonderful place to explore during both day and night.

A short walk past Gion and across the Kamo River brings you to Pontocho, one of Kyoto’s most picturesque alleys for dining and nightlife. Running parallel to the river, this narrow street is packed with atmospheric eateries, ranging from Michelin-starred kaiseki restaurants to casual izakaya. The Kamo River itself is a perfect place for a stroll, especially in the early evening when locals gather along its banks.

For access beyond Kyoto, Gion-Shijō Station is an 11-minute walk away. From here, the Keihan Line provides a direct connection to Osaka and convenient transit throughout the region.
