For those who’ve had the joy of staying in some of Kyoto’s traditional ryokans and are now looking for the familiar home comforts of a more western-style establishment, with a location that can’t be beaten, this is it.

    Location

    Tofukuji Riverside is ideally positioned in the center of Kyoto, making it a great place for exploring both my foot and by bicycle. It’s also just one train stop from Kyoto station and two from Fushimi Inari Taisha. If you’re looking to explore all of the city’s most well-known attractions, like Fushimi Inari Shrine, Kinkaku-Ji, and the Kyoto Imperial Palace, then staying at Riverside Tofukuji is definitely worth considering. In fact, Fushimi Inari Shrine is just 20 minutes door to door! The complex is also located right by the Kamo River, Kyoto’s most iconic waterway, and a picturesque destination for a stroll.

    The facility is also an easy two minute walk from Tofukuji Station, which services the Keihan Main Line and Nara Line, offering easy access to the city and the wider Kyoto area. If you want to explore something a little more local, Manjuji Temple, a relatively unknown but lush and architecturally stunning temple, is situated right by Tofukuji Station, and it’s the perfect place for a casual afternoon stroll.

    Tofukuji Riverside is also surrounded by excellent dining establishments offering all the culinary experiences there are to have in Kyoto. For western cuisine, be sure to check out Dragon Burger, a very popular, much-loved burger restaurant that offers both classic and Japanese fusion-style dishes. Nearby also sits Ramen Factory Kyoto, an excellent ramen restaurant where guests can also make their own noodles. Being in such a centrally located hotel, if it’s something else you’re after, just take a stroll down one of the back streets, and you’ll without question find something delicious.

    Thanks to the hotel’s great location, nine of the rooms boast wonderful river views and spectacular sunset views of Kyoto tower backdropped by the city’s hills. Two of the other rooms also boast quaint street views.

    The bathrooms are new, well designed, and feature deep baths perfect for soaking in and relaxing after a long day exploring the city. While excellent local restaurants surround the area, Tofukuji Riverside’s rooms also have a small kitchenette great for whipping up an easy dinner on a night in.     Located just a few stops from Kyoto Station, Tofukuji Riverside is in a great position to get around the rest of the city via public transportation. The hotel is also incredibly close to Tofukuji, featuring a stunning zen rock garden, and Fushimi Inari Taisha, famous for its seemingly endless series of red torii.

    Access Information

    From Kansai International Airport

    Approximately 1 hour and 18 minutes.
    The easiest way to get to Kyoto Station from the airport is the JR Haruka Limited Express Haruka Line. Kyoto Station is the fourth stop.

    From Kyoto Station to Tofukuji Riverside

    Take the JR Nara Line from Kyoto Station to Tofukuji Station (1 stop; 3 mins). From there it is 4 mins walk to the property.
