Overview
Tofukuji Tsuki is a laid-back, well-designed, machiya-inspired Kyoto home with plenty of attractions, charm, and style. With exposed wood throughout, earthy-colored walls, a modern kitchen and quaint, but elegant Japanese flourishes, like the earthen exterior, tatami-mat flooring in various rooms, and small Japanese-style garden, it’s the ideal meeting point between old Japan and the modern-day. The two-story, six-person-capacity home is a wonderful choice for traveling groups of all sizes. Booked with neighboring Tofukuji Sakura, this would be the ideal accommodation for groups of up to 13 people.
If you’re looking for an authentically ‘Kyoto’ experience, then booking a stay at Tofukuji Tsuki surely won’t disappoint. It comes complete with a small Japanese-style garden viewable from the dining room, living room and bath, and traditional tatami flooring so you can really appreciate that Kyoto charm. The home’s blend of western and Japanese elements means guests can embrace Kyoto style without forgoing any additional comforts.
Tofukuji Tsuki is only one stop from Kyoto Station, offering easy access to nearly all of the city’s main attractions. However, being in a relatively quiet neighborhood, Tofukuji Tsuki also offers the quiet comfort not normally found within the city, ensuring your stay is as peaceful as it is convenient.
Location
Tofukuji Tsuki is ideally positioned near Kyoto’s center, offering easy and convenient access to many of the city’s main attractions. Kyoto Station is only one stop from the house via the JR Nara Line, offering easy access not only to the entirety of Kyoto, but also surrounding prefectures like Osaka, Hyogo, Nara, and Shiga.
Just southeast of Tofukuji Tsuki, you will find Tofukuji Temple, a picturesque traditional temple, offering a great atmosphere for a scenic morning stroll during your stay. Tofukuji Temple features, among other things, a zen rock garden, an abundance of traditional Japanese-style architecture including a classic wooden bridge, and tons of nature as the Temple is replete with greenery.
Fushimi Inari Taisha is only two stops from Tofukuji Station or a 16-minute walk directly from Tofukuji Tsuki. A World Heritage Site, Fushimi Inari Taisha is one of Kyotos most iconic shrines. Famous for its endless walkways lined with tightly packed red torii gates and large fox statues, Fushimi Inari Taisha is definitely worth a few hours of your time!
The facility is also an easy four-minute walk from Tofukuji Station, which services the Keihan Main Line and the JR Nara Line, offering easy access to the city and the wider Kyoto area. If you want to explore something a little more local, Manjuji Temple, a relatively unknown but lush and architecturally stunning temple, is situated right by Tofukuji Station, and it’s the perfect place for a casual afternoon stroll.
Tofukuji Tsuki is also surrounded by excellent dining establishments offering all the culinary experiences there are to have in Kyoto. For western cuisine, be sure to check out Dragon Burger, a very popular, much-loved burger restaurant that offers both classic and Japanese fusion-style dishes. Nearby also sits Ramen Factory Kyoto, an excellent ramen restaurant where guests can also make their own noodles. Being in such a centrally located accommodation, if it’s something else you’re after, just take a stroll down one of the back streets, and you’ll without question find something delicious.
