Overview
Yellowstone is a thoughtfully renovated modern home featuring light wood tones and clean lines that create a bright, welcoming atmosphere. Accommodating up to five guests across three bedrooms and a living room sofa bed, this well-appointed property offers comfortable space for families or small groups seeking a peaceful base in Kyoto. With a full kitchen, well-designed bathroom facilities, and ample storage throughout, the home provides all the practical amenities needed for extended stays while maintaining the peaceful atmosphere of a quiet residential neighborhood.
The property sits in a tranquil residential area that offers a genuine glimpse into everyday Japanese life, away from the tourist crowds while remaining within walking distance of some of Kyoto’s most significant historical sites.
Location
Yellowstone occupies a peaceful residential street that provides authentic neighborhood living while keeping Kyoto’s imperial heritage within reach. A sixteen-minute walk south leads to the impressive grounds of Nijo Castle, where visitors can explore the shogun’s former residence with its famous nightingale floors and meticulously maintained gardens. The castle’s cherry blossoms in spring and autumn colors create seasonal spectacles that define Kyoto’s natural calendar.
Twenty minutes of walking east brings you to the expansive Kyoto Imperial Palace Park, where the former imperial residence sits within beautifully landscaped grounds open for public exploration. The park’s wide paths and seasonal gardens provide space for morning runs, afternoon strolls, or peaceful contemplation away from the city’s busier districts. The surrounding Kyoto Imperial Palace Park offers multiple gates and entrances, creating various walking routes back to the neighborhood.
The residential location offers quiet streets and authentic atmosphere that reward those seeking to experience Kyoto beyond its most touristy areas. Nijojomae Station sits about eighteen minutes away on foot, while Marutamachi Station requires a similar nineteen-minute walk, both providing access to Kyoto’s broader transportation network when needed. A convenience store just seven minutes away handles daily necessities for everyday living.
Description
Enter through a well-appointed genkan where abundant cabinet space handles shoes and storage for even the largest groups. The entrance hall leads efficiently through the home’s thoughtfully planned layout, beginning with practical facilities before opening into the main living areas.
Following the hallway, the restroom provides convenient ground-floor access, followed by a dedicated washroom housing the combination washer and dryer unit. The spacious bathroom features a full bathing area, ensuring comfortable facilities for up to five guests.
The heart of the home centers around an island kitchen equipped with essential appliances including an IH stove, combination oven and microwave for small-scale baking, electric kettle, rice cooker, and refrigerator. The sink features a built-in water filter, providing clean drinking water without the need for bottled alternatives. This open design allows the cook to remain connected with the dining area, where a natural wood finish table seats six comfortably.
The dining area flows seamlessly into two distinct relaxation spaces. To one side, an open living room features a double sofa bed that provides additional sleeping accommodation for a fifth guest. The 4K smart TV provides entertainment options, though guests will need their own streaming accounts for full functionality. The Japanese-style tatami room offers a cultural contrast with its low wooden table and four floor chairs with accompanying zabuton cushions. Large windows in this space frame views of the private rock garden, where carefully arranged stones of varying sizes create visual interest and meditative focus.
Ascending to the second floor reveals a practical arrangement designed for privacy and comfort. The upstairs restroom provides additional convenience, while the three bedrooms offer flexible sleeping arrangements. Two bedrooms each feature two single beds with generous storage options, including walk-in closets in one and standard closet space in the other. These rooms work well for children, friends sharing space, or individuals who prefer separate sleeping arrangements.
The master bedroom anchors one end of the floor, featuring a queen-size bed and walk-in closet that provides substantial storage for longer stays. The private balcony, while overlooking neighboring homes rather than scenic vistas, offers outdoor space for hanging laundry or taking fresh air breaks.
Throughout the home, split-unit heating and cooling systems ensure year-round comfort, while high-speed WiFi keeps everyone connected. The abundant storage space throughout prevents the cluttered feeling that can develop during longer stays, allowing personal belongings to be organized and common areas to remain welcoming.
